Hello, I’m Tracy Thompson, and I'm passionate about working with people, helping them navigate their personal journey through the complexities of life.
Every client is unique with different life experiences and needs. I therefore tailor my approach to what you bring, drawing on my experience to aid our work together. I offer short term (6 to 12 sessions), long term and open-ended counselling, depending on your needs. I work with adults from age 18 upwards.
We can explore your challenges in the present and also, where useful, we can look at earlier life events and experiences to understand the root or patterns of behaviour. By trying to understand the impact of your past on your emotions and behaviours, it can help you have more awareness of yourself and your approach to relationships now
I have previously worked as a Counsellor with Headstrong Counselling and Ruils (a user-led charity supporting people with long-term health and mental health conditions to live independently). Prior to that I also volunteered at The Listening Place, a charity offering free face-to-face listening for people who think life is no longer worth living.
I am a fully qualified Counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), with a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and, being passionate about learning, am deepening my knowledge by working towards the Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling.
I am also a Chartered Occupational Psychologist. I have worked in this field for over 20 years in both consultancy and in-house roles in the private and public sectors, providing specialist input into the design of selection and development initiatives. Alongside this work I also trained as a Coach, supporting individuals in achieving their potential in the workplace.
